Nydia Shahjahan is an experienced commercial litigation attorney who advises clients on transactional matters and handles disputes in state and federal courts, as well as specializing in dispute resolution services

Ms. Shahjahan began her career litigating for the New York State Attorney General Office’s Civil Rights Bureau as a volunteer Assistant Attorney General. Thereafter, she associated with the firm Kelley Drye & Warren LLP in the New York office. Ms. Shahjahan represented corporate clients in connection with complex commercial litigation. Building on her experience as a litigator, Ms. Shahjahan formed her business law practice, serving a varied client and industry base ranging from small local businesses to global corporations engaged in international commerce. As a skilled mediator and arbitrator, Ms. Shahjahan also offers alternative dispute resolution services, including business mediations, neutral case analysis and evaluations. 

Ms. Shahjahan actively supports initiatives and engages in dialogue about systemic racism and how to support and increase diversity in the legal field.

  • Repurchase lender in federal and state civil actions against borrowers and liquidity providers; obtained a preliminary injunction enjoining borrowers from proceeding with claims in Hong Kong.
  • Financial debt investors in breach of contract-related business litigations and default judgment actions.
  • Represented JPMorgan Chase Bank in collateral recovery litigation in Lehman Brothers bankruptcy.
  • Bankruptcy trustee for a national electronics retail chain in unsecured creditor claims.
  • Global tools manufacturer regarding internal investigation into stock market manipulation by employees.
  • Won asylum for immigration client in removal proceedings.
